Mars Bring Back 80s Chocolate Bars-but there is a catch

1 Mins read

Mars is set to bring back a beloved 1980s iconic chocolate bar, delighting fans with the return of the crazy treat. The chocolate company Mars has decided to offer people who grew up in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s a blast from the past as Snickers returns to its old name.

This iconic chocolate bar is making its comeback after 34 years. The nutty chocolate became Snickers in the UK after a 1990 rebranding to align with its US names and has now set back on the shelves as Marathon.

It will be available starting today, and this fan-favourite chocolate bar will be available until December. This chocolate will be available only at Morrisons. The Marathon chocolate bar had made its occasional comeback, one in  2019 where more than 4 million bars were snapped within 12 weeks of its arrival.

80s Chocolate Bars

These renowned Snickeres were born in the 1930s, they were named after the Mars family’s favourite horse. This chocolate bar was first introduced to British confectionery lovers as Marathon in 12967.

The senior brand manager, Steve Waters, was enthusiastic about the nostalgic release. The manager said that they are excited to bring back the Marathon bar branding for a limited period.

He added that it is a great way to celebrate over 90 years of Mars making chocolate in the United Kingdom. He also said that they hope fans of Snickers, who remember the chocolate when it was called Marathon, will enjoy picking this chocolate up in the store.

However, this is not the first time that Mars is doing something like this. Marathon bars also made their comeback in 2019 and 2020 and these bars were also sold in Morrisons.

This throwback treat made a big stir with shoppers at that time, which is why, Morrisons needed to implement a limit on the number of purchasing of chocolate bars customers could buy at one time.

Hopefully, this time around, there will be less disorganization in the shops.

This comes after Mars has recently teased the comeback of another popular chocolate item that has been missing from the chocolate pathway.

A spokesperson from Mars recently told Sky News that they are always listening to the fans of their chocolate and fruity treats. That is why, they are continuously innovating their ranges.

However, it is not clear what exactly the brand is relaunching, but we are excited for the next surprise.
