A well-known chocolate company has released a new chocolate egg in time for Easter, and shoppers are giddy with anticipation. Known for its iconic holiday chocolate oranges, Terry’s, a York-based company, dominates the Christmas candy market.
However, following last week’s Instagram announcement of the happy news, it seems the British brand is looking to become a strong favourite for Easter with the release of the brand-new chocolate orange cream-filled egg.
The 34g solid egg features a bright orange cream inside, just like its popular rival, Cadbury’s Creme Egg, which has controlled the market since the 1960s under the former name Fry’s.
The Terry’s Chocolate Orange egg, which is covered in dark chocolate and filled with orange-flavoured cream, is ideal for Easter. The product, Terry’s version of the Cadbury’s Cream Egg, was shown on Instagram last week and, depending on the retailer, ranges in price from 65p to 75p.
Its arrival on Tesco and Aldi shelves this week, along with those of Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Co-op, Waitrose, Iceland, B&M, and Poundland, thrilled fans.
“Bite your way into the creamy, tangy, orangey centre of our new Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cream Filled Egg,” the chocolatier suggested in its internet advertisement for the new treat that is ideal for both snacking and Easter egg hunts.
Retailers are offering the egg for 65p to 75p, making it a cheap Easter treat for less than £1. However, given that a full chocolate orange from the brand costs somewhat more than £1, some fans claimed the egg was “overhyped.”
It is sold in supermarkets all around the United Kingdom and arrives just in time for Easter, which is this year on April 20.
Numerous chocolate enthusiasts have reviewed the egg, calling it “delicious” and “amazing.” Fans poured their opinions about the new chocolatey product into the comments section.
“Oh my God… I need this in my life,” they wrote.
“I used these the other day to make chocolate brownies.” However, it’s difficult to locate them in stock anyplace”.
“They are excellent.” I only tasted it today.
“I will be laughing at these!”
Positive internet reviews are pouring in from those who have already sampled the dessert.
‘This is simply great!’ remarked food and snack reviewer @Snack_App15 on X, formerly Twitter, after giving it a 10/10 rating.
Like its rival, Cadbury’s Creme Egg, it is a 34g solid egg filled with colourful orange cream. Last week, Terry’s revealed the new treat, which would be available in stores in time for Easter.
While many chocolate brand devotees were thrilled, others were let down because they thought the centre would be creamier.
When Terry’s unflavoured solid milk chocolate ball was introduced in August of last year, opinions were split. This stands in stark contrast to the company’s several other goods, which are renowned for their unique orange taste. The candy is called an “orange” because it is a chocolate orange without the orange.
Terry’s provided their trick for enhancing the treat’s flavour in an Instagram post. They stated, “The gooey, creamy centre gets even better when it’s left at room temperature, or pocket temperature if you’re planning on hiding it from others.”
It appears that the middle of the cream eggs maintains a fairly hard firmness unless they are placed in a warm room or pocket.
This has been questioned by some customers, who have commented, “It’s delicious, but the middle should be creamier.” It happened only a month after a TikToker shared the Chocolate Apple, a little-known Terry’s product from the past.
