Three new actors chosen to play the main roles in the Harry Potter reboot series: HBO revealed the young actors who will play the three main characters in the Harry Potter TV series, which is based on J.K. Rowling’s book series. Alastair Stout, Arabella Stanton, and Dominic McLaughlin have been cast as Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Harry Potter, respectively.

More than thirty thousand kids applied for the parts after an open casting call was held last year.

Speaking in a statement, showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod said: “The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together on-screen.”

The children join John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts, while Janet McTeer plays Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu plays Severus Snape, two important teachers at the institution.

Paul Whitehouse plays caretaker Argus Filch, Luke Thallon plays professor Quirinus Quirrell, and Nick Frost plays the friendly groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid

There will likely be more casting announcements soon. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, who appeared in the wildly popular films, are being replaced by three relatively new performers.

In addition to starring with Nick Frost and Golda Rosheuvel in the upcoming Sky comedy Grow, Scottish actor McLaughlin will also be featured in the upcoming BBC action adventure series Gifted. Stanton portrayed Matilda in the West End production of Matilda: The Musical.

JK Rowling, the author of the best-selling books, will serve as an executive producer on the project, which HBO has described as a “faithful adaptation” of her works.

With at least ten years to go, the TV series will have more time to explore the book plotlines without being constrained by the film’s timeline. The first season may premiere on HBO Max as early as 2026, with filming anticipated to start in the summer at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK.

HBO said in April that renowned actor John Lithgow has been chosen to play Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape are among the other roles that have already been announced.

“We’re delighted to have such extraordinary talent onboard, and we can’t wait to see them bring these beloved characters to new life,” Gardiner and Mylod said in April.

According to HBO, the show will be a ‘faithful adaptation ” of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books and is expected to continue for over ten years.

It is anticipated to launch in 2026 and will devote at least one season to each book. Rowling holds an executive producer credit in the HBO series and is still the proprietor of the Harry Potter franchise.
