River City actor Iain Robertson accused of raping women and abusing

1 Mins read

A Scottish actor, Iain Robertson, is accused of rape against four different women. Iain Robertson is facing a total of eight charges that span the period from January 2004 to April 2020—the range of his offences against four women.

Iain Robertson has played Stevie O’Hara in the BBC soap River City. The allegation of rape include one of the women who said the incident happened on various ocassions in 2018 and 2019. She said that the incident happened at addresses in the city’s West End and Southside.

There was a separate claim against Robertson of engaging in a course of abusive behaviour towards the lady.

However, Robertson denies all the charges against him. Robertson faces claims that he was controlling and psychologically manipulating that lady.

There is also a charge against him of assaulting another woman in Glasgow. The allegations include that he made derogatory comments and poured a bottle of wine on her. There are claims that he told others the lady was mentally unstable. He also made her “fearful” of reporting him to the police.

Robertson faces further accusations against a third woman over three years at flats in Glasgow and Aberdeenshire.

There is an allegation that the Bafta-winning actor shouted and swore at the lady.

Prosecutors have listed several allegations against Robertson. These allegations involve that he usually tried to control the lady and made her isolated from her friends and family.

There is an allegation that he persistently contacted the woman and sent unwanted gifts to her workplace. The physical violence took place at the flats in Glasgow.

This indictment claims that he is aggressive and manipulative. He pushed the final woman and uttered sexual remarks.

Gary Allan KC, defending, said that a special defence of consent has been lodged for one of the accusations.

Mr. Allan said that a joint minute of agreed evidence has been managed between the parties, and Mr. Robertson was found not guilty.

Both the advocate and prosecutor agreed to set a trial.

Lord Arthurson has set up a trial which is planned to start in June 2026 at the High Court in Glasgow.

Robertson remains on bail.

He joined River City in 2017, and he had previously played Lex in the cult Glasgow gang film Small Faces.
