It’s deadline day, and Manchester United is anticipating a busy final day in the transfer window. There is internal gossip regarding Manchester United’s signing of a goalkeeper, with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
Martinez was not in Villa’s matchday squad to face Crystal Palace on Sunday. Villa boss Unai stated that the club needed to fix the situation.
Martinez had offers, and it is expected that he will wait for Manchester United.
According to some sources, United has explored the possibility of a deal for the 32-year-old goalkeeper.
Villa had lost by 3-0 to Crystal Palace, where Martinez was not included in the match. Emery said that one of the circumstances is not helping them. The Argentine international signed a five-year deal in August 2024, which will run until the summer of 2029.
Martinez, the World Cup winner, played in Aston Villa’s 1-0 loss at Brentford last weekend. Meanwhile, Man United continues talks with Royal Antwerp over Lammens.
Aston Villa are yet to win a Premier League match this season, losing two and drawing one of their three opening matches.
Aston Villa is the only club across England’s top four divisions to have not scored a league goal this season.
When asked about Match of the Day about whether the club is looking forward to conducting any transfer business before Monday’s 19:00 BST deadline, Emery replied that they need others, of course.
He further added that he is happy with the players he has, but he is expecting to get something more in the squad.
When asked regarding Martinez’s situation, the Villa boss simply replied, “Bizot” to each question. It seems to be a reference to goalkeeper Marco Bizot, who was starting the game.
