Father jumps off the Disney cruise ship overboard to save daughter

2 Mins read

A father has been praised as a hero as he jumped off a Disney cruise to save his daughter. The daughter fell overboard from the cruise on June 29 as the Disney Dream was returning to Fort Lauderdale from a four-night Bahamian cruise.

Travellers of the Disney cruise have shared the details of the incident on the unofficial Disney Dream cruise ship Facebook Group. As per the report, the girl fell into the water from the fourth deck, and her father didn’t take a moment to jump off to rescue her.

The father kept his daughter floating for approximately 20 minutes until the rescue team reached the point.

The ship’s emergency alert, Mr. M.O.B., was triggered, initiating a swift response. Both the father and daughter were rescued, and both are safe, as per Disney officials.

Videos on social media revealed that the passengers were cheering as the father and daughter quickly recovered. A rescue boat has been sent to save both of them at the scene. The witness said that both of them were picked up from the water around after 10 minutes.

The girl was supposed to fall from the deck when her father took her picture against a railing, according to a witness. A man overboard alert was broadcast on the Disney cruise, and the crew rushed to recover the.

Passenger Laura Amador said that the ship was moving so fast, it was crazy how quickly the people became tiny dots in the sea, and then the sight of them was lost.

She also added that the captain slowed the cruise and turned it around, and then they deployed a tender ship with people on that to get them. The team recused the dad and daughter both.

Passenger Kevin Furuta wrote in a Facebook post that on the last day of their Dream voyage, it was an at-sea day. A girl fell overboard from the 4th deck of the ship, and her dad went in after her. He also added that right after the incident, they heard on the loudspeaker, MOB port side! He thanked the DCL rescue team because the team immediately saved both of them.

Passenger Melanie recorded the rescue operation on her phone and said that she saw him. Of course, and praying for him. With surprise, she expressed how the man might have survived for that long.

Indeed, the overboard incidents on ships are very rare, even they can be deadly. The Disney Dream returned to Port Everglades, following the rescue.
