The rumour of the HBO adaptation of the Harry Potter series is set to begin filming in the summer of 2025. It reignites excitement and controversy among fans of J.K. Rowling’s beloved franchise.
However, rumours are gearing up as the casting is swirling, especially the iconic character Rubeus Hagrid, traditionally portrayed by the late Robbie Coltrane.
Recent reports suggest that Brett Goldstein, known for his role in Ted Lasso, is the frontrunner to take on the role of Hagrid. This casting choice has sparked significant debate within the fan community, and many shared their statements on X.
One person questioned, “What next? The Weasleys are going to be blonde, and the Malfoys, Ginger, and Harry will wear eye contact.?”
Another fan added, “Um, Hagrid is supposed to be 8 feet tall and English.” Another person joked, “I don’t know if the world is ready for sexy Hagrid.”

Although the filming will take place at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, where all previous Harry Potter films were produced. The series is expected to span a decade with plans for seven seasons, each focusing on one of Rowling’s books, aiming to introduce new generations to Harry Potter’s magical world.
