DWP PIP and DLA Claimants can get a One-off 750 Pounds Payment for New Items

1 Mins read

People receiving disability benefits can swap all or part of their qualifying weekly mobility allowance (75.75 Pounds) for a brand-new car and a selection of new resources.

These include Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, scooters, and powered vehicles so individuals can enjoy more freedom and independence.

At present, more than 800,000 customers benefit from the Motability scheme across the United Kingdom.

Those who are eligible include recipients of the higher rate mobility component of PIP (Personal Independence Payment) and DLA (Disability Living Allowance).

However, some may not be aware of the 750 bonus available to individuals leasing a vehicle for the first time. This incentive termed the New Vehicle Payment, applies to Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, and cars are offered once each customer.

Beneficiaries have the option to direct the funds to the dealer as a contribution to the advanced payment for new customers on December 31, 2024.

However, the Motability operations have declared an extension of the deadline to January 3, 2025, according to a report by Birmingham Live.

Motability stated that this is to give all the customers a final chance to order the first car if someone’s dealer is closed over the festive period.

Motability also confirmed that the cut-off date only applies to the new clients. If any individual has not yet used the New Vehicle Payment, it will still be available with his/her next car even if the acquisition occurs after January 3, 2025, according to a report by Daily Record.

You can check whether you qualify for the 750-pound payment through the Motability Scheme’s online tool. It is known as the Accessible Vehicles and Equipment Scheme in Scotland, certain vehicles may necessitate an upfront payment.

The scheme is operated by Motability Operations Ltd. and both scheme has identical eligibility requirements.

There are distinct offers on scooters and powered wheelchairs, known as a New Product Payment of 100 Pounds, awarded post-delivery.

Motability stated that clients are unable to get both the New Product Payment and the New Vehicle Payment.

According to its latest October update, the scheme now features over 980 cars, and there are more than 50 models that do not require any advance payment.

So the New Vehicle Payment of 750 Pounds is to be directly allocated to the new customer.

Individuals can choose a lease that uses all of their mobility allowance, it is known as a variable lease. You can search for comprehensive updates on the Motability website.
