R. Kelly Hospitalized After Alleged Overdose in Prison

2 Mins read

R. Kelly, the famous R&B singer, was hospitalised last week after an alleged overdose in prison. His lawyers claim that prison staff gave him a dangerous amount of medication, which could have killed him. Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is currently serving a long sentence for sex crimes and racketeering.

According to court documents, Kelly was taken to Duke University Hospital in North Carolina on June 13, 2025. His attorney, Beau Brindley, said prison authorities provided him with an excessive dosage of his medication. Kelly reportedly collapsed in his cell, felt faint, and saw black spots in his vision before losing consciousness.

Doctors at the hospital found that Kelly had blood clots in both his legs and lungs. He was scheduled for surgery and advised to stay in the hospital for a week. However, prison officers removed him from the hospital against medical advice and returned him to solitary confinement.

Kelly’s lawyers allege that this was an assassination attempt by prison officials. They claim the Bureau of Prisons is trying to kill him to cover up crimes committed during the investigation of his case. The Bureau of Prisons has not commented on these claims. citing privacy and security reasons.

Federal prosecutors have dismissed Kelly’s allegations as “deeply unserious” and “fantastical conspiracy.” They argue that the claims trivialize the suffering of his victims and deny his request for release from prison. Kelly’s legal team is also seeking a presidential pardon for him.

Kelly, now 58 years old, is serving a 30-year sentence in North Carolina for racketeering and sex trafficking convictions from 2021. He was also found guilty in 2022 on charges of producing child pornography and enticing minors for sexual activity. His sentences are being served concurrently, with a total expected release date of December 21, 2045.

Zoe Slater is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders. She is played by actress Michelle Ryan and first appeared on the show in September 2000. Zoe arrived in Walford with her family, including her father Charlie Slater and sisters Kat, Lynne, and Little Mo.

A major storyline revealed that Zoe is Kat Slater’s daughter, not her sister. Kat became pregnant with Zoe after being reped by her uncle Harry Slater when she was 13 years old. Zoe was adopted by Kat’s parents and raised as Kat’s sister, not her daughter.

Zoe’s storylines have included running away from home, being involved in dramatic family secrets, and relationships with other characters. She left EastEnders in 2005 but made an unannounced return in June 2025. In her recent return, Zoe was involved in a plot where she claimed to be on the run from loan sharks, but it was later revealed to be a lie to get money from family members.

Zoe Slater remains an important character in EastEnders, known for her dramatic and emotional storylines. Her return in 2025 has brought renewed interest to her character and the Slater family.
