Shefali Jariwala, “Kaanta Laga” Girl, Passes Away Suddenly in Mumbai

2 Mins read

Shefali Jariwala, famously known as the “Kaanta Laga” girl, passed away suddenly at the age of 42 on Friday night. She was found dead at her residence in Mumbai. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital, where she was declared dead by the doctors.

The cause of Shefali’s death is widely reported as cardiac arrest, but no official confirmation has been made yet. Mumbai Police have started an investigation, and a forensic team searched her Andheri residence. Her body was sent to Cooper Hospital for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Shefali Jariwala rose to fame with the hit 90s music video “Kaanta Laga,” which made her a household name. She was also a popular television personality, participating in reality shows like “Nach Baliye 5” and “Nach Baliye 7” alongside Parag Tyagi. In 2019, she was a contestant on the reality show “Bigg Boss 13,” where her friendship with late actor Sidharth Shukla was much appreciated by fans.

Her last social media post was a glamorous photoshoot in a silver sequined jumpsuit with the caption “Bling it on baby!” posted just three days before her death. A week earlier, she shared a video with the caption, “It’s time for us to start living life.” She also posted a tribute on the anniversary of Sidharth Shukla’s death, sharing a picture of them hugging inside the Bigg Boss house with the caption, “Thinking of you today, mere dost @sidharth_shukla.”

Shefali had spoken openly about her struggles with health issues. In an earlier interview, she revealed that she had epileptic seizures starting at age 15, triggered by stress and anxiety. She said these seizures happened in various places, like classrooms and backstage, which affected her self-esteem. She had managed to stay seizure-free later in life through exercise and efforts to combat depression.

In her personal life, Shefali was first married to singer Harmeet Singh of the Meet Bros band in 2004. The couple divorced in 2009, after which she married Parag Tyagi in 2014. Shefali kept a relatively low profile after marriage but remained active on social media, sharing happy moments and photoshoots with her fans.

Her sudden death has shocked fans and the entertainment industry alike. Many expressed their grief and disbelief over losing the vibrant and talented actress who had touched many hearts with her work and personality. The investigation into her death is ongoing, and the exact cause will be revealed after the postmortem report is completed.

Shefali Jariwala will be remembered for her iconic “Kaanta Laga” performance and her contributions to Indian television and music videos. Her untimely passing is a great loss to the entertainment world.
