Simon Bird, known for his role as Will Mackenzie in The Inbetweeners, has recently addressed his disappointing statement about the potential reunion of the show cast.
The actor, alongside Jyothamas James Buckley and Bake Harrison in the Machloff comedy series that revolved around a group of helpless teenage boys, ran for two years from 2008, followed by a movie in 2011 and 2014.
Despite much fan speculation, Bird says there are no plans for him to reunite with Thomas, Buckey, and Harrison on any forthcoming Inbetweeners projects.

Bird says in the mail, “I’m afraid to be one of the coding cold water in this, but it’s not happening. I can tell you empathically that there is no prospect of reunion.”
He explained: “The cast will be happy to, but its not up to us; its up to the writers, Iain Mirris and Doman Beesley, and I know they both are very busy these days.”
He noted, “It’s not more likely to happen now than it was 10 years ago,” and described the show as a product of its time.
Bird also makes a disappointing statement that, despite fans regularly quoting lines from The Inbetweeners, he doesn’t remember any lines from the show.
“I have no idea what they’re talking about,” he said. “I can’t remember the show—I don’t think I have ever watched it back since I made it in 2008.”
Bird’s comments come despite some optimism from his co-star Joe Thomas, who indicates a willingness to reunite.

However, Bird reiterated that discussion about a new show or film has not taken place, and he feels that revisiting the teenage characters as adults would be “a bit more depressing for everyone” involved.
“No one is going to buy us as teenagers anymore,” he told Screen Daily.
“And I think the idea of four of us back together as 30 somethings is going to be a bit more depressing for everyone; I can’t see us doing more of it.”
The last notable attempt at a reunion was the 2019 special Fwends Reunited, which was The Inbetweener quiz of a fake awards ceremony and watching old cliffs from the show.
It was poorly received by the fans and led to disappointment among the cast members. Buckey later apologized for it on Twitter.
It was maybe a mistake doing that reunion,” Buckey later told Heart Radio.
“Me personally, I don’t want to reunite the Inbetweener anymore. At the moment, I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near it.”
