Tesco Issued Urgent Recall of Chicken Skewers Over Incorrect Use By Date

1 Mins read

Tesco has issued an urgent recall of its popular Chicken Tsukune Skewers due to a significant error in the product’s labelling that could pose health risks to consumers.

The recall affects 280g packs of the skewers, which were incorrectly marked with a use-by date of 23 December 2024 instead of the correct date of 10 December 2024.

This mislabeling could mislead customers into believing the product is safe for consumption beyond its shelf life, potentially leading to foodborne illnesses if consumed after the correct date.

In a statement, Tesco emphasized the importance of adhering to use-by dates, noting that consuming food past this date can lead to serious health risks. The supermarket chain has proactively issued point-of-sale notices across its stores to alert customers about the recall.

Tesco said in an alert, “If you’ve brought an affected product with batch code 241025, please don’t eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.”

A recall for the product, described by the supermarket chain as “Chicken with spring onion and ginger puree and a sachet of rice wine and soy sauce,” was also issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).”

This recall follows a recent trend of product safety issues at Tesco, including a previous recall involving a contaminated dip last month. The FSA has been involved in disseminating information regarding the latest recall, reinforcing the need for vigilance in food safety practices among retailers and consumers alike.

This week Tesco again issued a recall of a brand of iced coffee with oat milk because a batch contained dairy milk.

The supermarket said in a notice, “Grind Grind is recalling a specific date and batch code of Grind Iced Vanilla Oat Latte Coffee 250 ml.

Due to a packing error, some cans may contain Grind Iced Matcha Latte, which contains milk. This could therefore be a risk to those with an allergy or intolerance to milk and its constituents.”

As Tesco continues to address this issue, it serves as a reminder for all consumers to check product labels carefully and adhere strictly to use-by dates to ensure their health and safety.
