BA crew member arrested for ‘raping stewardess colleague after night out between flights’

A member of the British Airways staff has allegedly been arrested in Singapore for raping a fellow waitress. The unidentified man was arrested Friday night on charges of assaulting the woman after spending the night out in between flights. In the wake of the current incident, two female BA employees have reportedly been flown home.

To communicate with Singaporean authorities and the detained crew member, who is presently in jail, airline managers have also taken flights there. The rape claim has startled BA employees. It was revealed after the crew had gone out for the night in between flights.

As per The Sun, a source said yesterday: ‘Everyone is numb. The rape-accused steward has flown with BA for years.

‘The case is under the jurisdiction of Singapore authorities and proving a major headache for aviation chiefs.’

In Singapore, those convicted of raping a victim who is older than 14 may be sentenced to up to 20 years in jail, in addition to a fine or caning.

“This is a matter for the police and it would be inappropriate to comment further,” BA said to MailOnline when asked for comment.

It follows the reintroduction of a former British Airways pilot who was fired for sniffing cocaine off a topless lady during flights. In 2023, Mike Beaton, a married father of one, boasted to a British Airways stewardess colleague about his inebriated escapades.

The pilot texted a colleague before a return trip from Johannesburg to London, describing a night out in the South African capital with two local males, a female vacationer, and a young Spanish woman.

Before returning to one of the men’s apartments where cocaine was made, the fivesome allegedly convened at a nightclub. Just hours before Beaton was scheduled to co-pilot an aircraft from South Africa back to Britain, a startled coworker alerted “furious” superiors about his night of revelry.”

In a text seen by The Sun, the married father wrote: “I’ve lost my shirt somewhere and one of the local lads produces a plate with a few lines of coke. So then there’s a debate about whose chest is the best to do a bump off.

“I was so f***** I couldn’t lift my head until 2.”
In further revelations, the former BA pilot said he stayed the night and “sh**** for ages” adding “Guess the coke played a part”.

After BA swiftly cancelled the trip, Beaton was transported back to Heathrow Airport as a passenger the following day, where he tested positive for drugs.

Beaton was fired shortly after. However, after persuading the Civil Aviation Authority [CAA] that he is a changed man, the married parent has reportedly returned to the cockpit. Beaton has already finished four trips for European Cargo, an aviation freight company based in Bournemouth.

As BA executives rush to coordinate with local police, a British Airways steward is currently being imprisoned in a Singaporean prison after being charged with rape during a drunken night out between flights.

The flight Beaton was scheduled to take was cancelled when a worried coworker raised the alarm, losing BA an estimated £100,000 in the process.

The following day, as a passenger, he was flown back to Heathrow Airport and required to submit to a drug test. After testing positive and being fired, Beaton, a Devon father, is now back in the cockpit with European Cargo, a goods carrier with headquarters in Bournemouth.
