The match’s turning point came in the 88th minute when Miguel Araujo was able to score the first-ever goal of the match. He headed the ball into the bottom left corner after a well-placed cross from Piero Quispe following a corner kick.
The defensive goal not only secured their position but marked a significant moment in their World Cup qualification campaign while Uruguay stayed third at the halfway mark of the campaign.
