Tony Todd, a well-known actor, who played the killer in Candyman and the 2021 sequel, died on November 6 at his home in Los Angeles.
Tony Todd appeared in the Final Destination franchise and Platoon among over 240 films and TV credits lengthening his career by 40 years.
His reps confirmed his death news to Deadline, however, didn’t provide any cause of his death.
Tony Todd was born on December 4, 1954, in Washington, D.C. He pursued acting at the Eugene O’Neill National Actors Theatre Institute and Trinity Rep Conservatory, where he developed his commanding styles.
His first screen role was the heroine-addicted Sergeant Warren in Oliver Stone’s Best Picture Oscar-winning Vietnam War classic Platoon.
Later, he went on various popular 1980s and 90s series such as 21 Jump Street, Matlock, MacGyver, Night Court, Law & Order, The X-Files, Beverly Hills 90210, Deep Space Nine, The Next Generation, and Voyager.
The Hollywood actor also had recurring roles as Matt Rhodes in Homicide: Life on the Street and Gus Rogan in The Young and The Restless. Meanwhile, Todd continues to act on the big screen as well.
He acted in the 1980s dramas such as Lean on Me, Charlie Parker’s biopic Bird, Colors, and starring Forest Whitaker. However, his best played film roles came during the following decades.
The Hollywood star appeared in the 1990s remake of Night of The Living Dead as Ben, and his next big role was likely the most famous playing the mythical title creep with a hook for a hand in Candyman (1992). This character he reprised in the 2021 sequel of the same name.
Tony Todd continues to work steadily in films, TV, and video games all through the 21st century.
He was also a sought-after-voice actor, he also lent his voice to several films including Call of Duty games, Star Trek, and various TV shows such as Transformers Prime, Be Cool, and more. Todd continues to work even into this year including a lead role in The Bunker, and Stream.
