Latest updates on LDS Church: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been permitted to start preliminary building on the location of the future temple in Vancouver, Washington.
After obtaining the required licenses, workers will begin rerouting Bybee Road, clearing the property, and putting in the utilities needed for the temple’s construction. By taking these first measures, the property will be ready for future development and the right infrastructure will be in place.
“The commencement of this work marks an exciting milestone in the process of building a house of the Lord in the Vancouver area,” said Elder Gordon L. Treadway, Area Authority for the Church.
“This sacred place will be a tremendous blessing for the many Latter-day Saints in the area and throughout Southwest Washington. We are grateful for the ongoing support and collaboration from the city of Camas.”
The Temple’s design and building permit work are still in progress, and although a formal groundbreaking date has not yet been set, one will be announced soon.
People of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints go through spiritual rituals that enhance their spirituality and family bonds in their temples, which are sacred places of devotion. Area Latter-day Saints will be served by the Vancouver Washington Temple, which will act as a place for spirituality, worship, and peace.
Around 281,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worship in almost 490 separate church buildings that exist throughout Washington state. Additional information regarding the project timeline will be disclosed during its development including the groundbreaking ceremony schedule and construction benchmarks.
