You Season 5 Release Date Announced: Joe Goldberg’s Final Chapter Begins April 24

2 Mins read

The highly anticipated fifth and final season of the psychological thriller series “You” is set to premiere on Netflix in April 2025. All ten episodes will be released simultaneously, allowing fans to binge-watch the conclusion of Joe Goldberg’s dark and twisted story.

You season 5 picks up three years after the events of season 4, with Joe Goldberg returning to New York City, the place where his dangerous journey began.

Now happily married to Kate Lockwood, played by Charlotte Ritchie, Joe is living under the public’s adoring gaze as “Prince Charming.” However, his peaceful life is soon threatened by the ghosts of his past and his sinister desires.

The season was ordered by Netflix on March 24, 2023. Series co-creator Sera Gamble stepped down as showrunner and was replaced by Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo, who took over the creative helm for this final chapter. Filing took place in New York City from March to August 2024.

The main cast includes Penn Badgley reprising his role as Joe Goldberg, alongside Charlotte Ritchie as Kate Lockwood. New additions to the cast are Madeline Brewer as Bronte, Anna Camp in dual roles as Reagan and Maddie Lockwood, Graffin Matthews as Teddy Lockwood, and several others, including Natasha Behnam, Pete Ploszek, Tom Franchis and Nava Mau.

Child actor Frankie DeMaio joins as Joe’s son Henry. The season also features returning characters such as Tati Gabrielle’s Marienne Bellamy and Amy Leigh Hickman.

Michael Foley, co-showrunner, shared that the creators were excited to bring Joe’s story full circle by returning him to New York, contrasting the man he was at the beginning of the series with who he has become. The final season explores Joe’s attempt to maintain a domestic life while confronting his unresolved and dangerous past.

The release time for You season 5 is midnight Pacific Time (12:00 AM PT) on April 24, which corresponds to 3:00 AM Eastern Time (ET) and 8:00 AM in the UK. The release will be worldwide, with corresponding times in other countries, such as 12:30 PM in India and 5:00 PM in Sydney, Australia.

Since its debut in 2018, You has captivated audiences with its dark exploration of obsession, identity and control, narrated through Joe’s chilling inner dialogue. The final season promises a “killer end” to Joe’s saga, as teased by Netflix. Fans are eager to see whether Joe will finally face justice or continue his spiral into madness.

Although season 5 will deliver the concluding chapter of Joe Goldberg’s story with ten new episodes, available exclusively on Netflix from April 24, 2025. The season promises to revisit Joe’s origins in New York, introduce new characters and provide closure to the decade-long psychological thriller that has kept viewers on edge.
