PSG vs Monaco: Dembele’s Brilliance Leads PSG to Thrilling 4-2 Comeback Over Monaco

1 Mins read

State Louis II, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) staged a remarkable comeback to defeat AS in their Ligue 1 clash on December 18.2024. The victory not only showcased PSG’s resilience but also extended their lead at the top of the league table.

The match began with an early goal from Monaco Desire Doue in the 24th minute, putting the home side ahead. The home crowd erupted as Monaco capitalized on PSG’s defensive lapses.

However, PSG quickly responded, leveling the score with a goal from Ousmane Dembélé shortly after. Dembélé’s equalizer set the tone for exciting content as both teams battled for dominance.

Despite the momentum shift, Monaco regained their advantage shortly after halftime when Breel Embolo scored in the 55th minute, putting the hosts ahead again at 2-1.

This goal seemed to energize Monaco, who were determined to maintain their position in the league standings. At this point, they were third in Ligue 1, trailing PSG by seven points.

PSG took control of the match when Goncalo Ramos scored in the 83rd minute, giving them a crucial lead.

Dembele later sealed the victory with his second goal in stoppage time, bringing his tally to two goals for the match. For Monaco, Breel Embolo also found the net, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

With this victory, PSG solidified their position at the top of Ligue 1, now sitting 10 points clear of second-placed Marseille.

They have maintained an impressive unbeaten run this season, with a record of 11 wins and 4 draws from their 15 matches. Monaco remains in third place with 30 points, reflecting their competitive performance this season.

This match highlighted PSG’s attacking prowess and depth in talent, particularly with Dembélé’s standout performance. The team displayed determination and skill, bouncing back from an early setback to secure all three points.

This result boosts for PSG as they continue their campaign to reclaim the Ligue 1 title. With their sights set on further success in their season, they will look to build on this momentum in upcoming fixtures.

As for AS Monaco, while disappointed with the result, they can take positives from their performance against one of France’s top teams.

The match served as a reminder of the competitive nature of Ligue 1 and the challenges that lie ahead for both clubs as they navigate through the remainder of the season.
